Alliance Trust top-seller

The £3.2bn Alliance Trust was the top-selling investment trust among retail clients over the first half of 2011 on Alliance Trust Savings' (ATS) i.nvest platform.

According to ATS figures the trust, which recently won a battle with activist investor Laxey Partners, received the greatest gross inflows.

It was followed by the £2.6bn Scottish Mortgage trust managed by Baillie Gifford's James Anderson.

Neil Woodford's £1.4bn Edinburgh Investment trust was the third most popular on the platform.

On the platform there are currently 30 investment trusts, including the top three purchased trusts, participating in a special offer which waives the £12.50 online dealing charge.

ATS is also waiving the annual administration charge for new customers on the Select Sipp until February 2012.
