James Scott joins Jonathan Fry as part of an “aggressive” expansion of the Fry Family Office investment and asset advisory business, the firm said.

Mr Scott’s appointment to the business, which caters for the high-net-worth private client market, is the first in a string of “high-profile appointments of major players” to be announced in the autumn, the firm added.

The appointments come as the business gears up to launch its specialist administration software OmniView, a service for clients with net assets worth £10m-£100m.

At Citigroup, Mr Scott was involved in growing the bank’s structured-product programme, in the UK and overseas. He also researched and developed products with co-partners such as UBS, Citi and Merrill Lynch.

Mr Scott said: “It is no secret the private banks do not always provide the best-in-market bespoke service for their high-net-worth clients. Product ranges are all too often severely restricted, and underperformance is unfortunately all too common.”
