The Impax Asian Environmental Markets fund aims to provide investors with exposure to the long-term capital growth of companies in the environmental sector based in the region.

The new trust will be co-managed by Bruce Jenkyn-Jones, managing director at Impax and David Li of Hong Kong-based Ajia Partners, Impax's partner in the region.

Mr Jenkyn-Jones said environmental companies are likely to play an important part in the development of the region in the long term.

He said: "There is a compelling case for investing in Asian environmental stocks. There are many exciting, undervalued companies in the region that are supplying local environmental markets, as well as international demand."

Ian Simm, chief executive at Impax, said the new listed fund would be able to take advantage of the company's expertise in the environmental sector.

"The universe of ambitious Asian environmental companies is expanding rapidly, and the Impax Asian Environmental Markets is ideally positioned to deliver excellent investment returns."
