Origen’s Staffcare deal gives Beneﬁts Portal
The company said the Origen Benefits Portal, uses online tools to help employers with benefits communication and administration, creating a workplace-based portal for pensions, protection and financial information.
Warren Page, director of client services for Origen, said: “It has been in a soft-launch period internally and is now up and running for any client.
“The key to a good employee benefits arrangement is all about communication and employee understanding. We are seeing more and more employees wanting to understand more and wanting to know where to go.
“The partnership with Staffcare helps us create a platform that takes a company and an individual through one of four stages. The first is going out and creating benefits, such as a pensions scheme. We then take a client to the next stage where an employee can go in and look at those benefits and see what they are worth.
“This will help them recruit and retain staff. People will not just leave for an incremental salary increase when they see the full package they can receive from their current employer.
“People will also be able to move their benefits around. An employee can have their own say on where to allocate their ‘benefit allowance’.
“Some employers may just want the technology for communication and visibility of benefits. They can always use the other features when appropriate.”
He said there would be a big launch in 2011 and predicted other IFA firms may follow this route as they assess their proposition in light of the retail distribution review.
Mr Page added: “A lot of businesses will decide over the next couple of years what is core to their businesses. Employee benefits is a core element of Origen. It may not be core to other firms. A number may just concentrate on other areas lie dealing with retirement, mortgages or high net-worth individuals. “
Philip Hollingdale, founder and chief executive of Staffcare Limited, said: “We white-label our software to corporate advisers like Origen so they can go to their clients and communicate new ways of managing their benefits. Employees do not always understand what employers do for them. The employee can log on and see their own personalised reward statement.
“We want every corporate IFA to use our platform.”
