Nick Caplan, former group chief marketing officer of Logica, has been named the new chairman of IT support company Managed Networks. Mr Caplan joins to support the company in achieving full national coverage in the next three years. He joined Logica in 2003 and has a track record that includes terms as chief executive of two software houses. Mr Caplan said: "In today's environment the need for stress free, proactive IT support in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector is increasingly important."

Investments

Close Invoice Finance, part of the FTSE250 listed merchant banking group Close Brothers Group plc, has appointed Ian Steward as managing director for the north of England. He will lead Close's expanding northern commercial centre and brings more than 12 years of invoice discounting experience, including most recently eight years as managing director of Five Arrows Commercial Finance, NM Rothschild's invoice finance subsidiary. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving new business growth and supporting existing clients across the north of England. Prior to this appointment, he worked at Rothschild for 23 years and has undertaken various roles at the bank, including a director in the banking division.
