The first stage of the project - an e-academy - will launch in early July. The project, run in collaboration with Skandia, aims to help IFA firms to meet the demands of the RDR.

The appointment follows an open tender process that saw a number of responses from specialist and boutique firms through to IFA transition practices and international consultancy firms.

The appointment was made by a steering group set up to manage the project comprising of director at Baigrie Davies Amanda Davidson, head of employee benefits at Helm Godfrey Roger Sanders, managing director of Origen Stephen Greenstreet, Aifa director general Chris Cummings and Giles Elliot, chief marketing officer at Skandia

Cummings said: "The online academy will launch at the beginning of July and the first phase will include a tool to help firms conduct a self-assessment on what they need to do to prepare for the RDR.

"The business transition work will allow members to prepare their firms for the post-RDR world.

"We are determined to support our members to make a smooth and successful transition and ensure the IFA profession becomes bigger and better than ever."
