Aifa wins trade body of the year award
The Association of Independent Financial Advisers (Aifa) won the 'trade body of the year' award at the annual Public Affairs News Awards last night (2 July).
The association, which pipped the Institute of Civil Engineers and the Energy Retail Association to win the accolade, was commended for its work to reduce the regulatory fee burden on members.
Aifa was also praised for its work on behalf of members in regards to the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) and its recent white paper entitled 'Financial planning through retirement'.
John Gummer MP, independent chairman of Aifa, said: "Reducing the fee burden on intermediaries by £11.7m, campaigning for a positive outcome in the RDR, and producing such an insightful report on the future of retirement planning are just three of the major successes for Aifa in the last few months.
"But these would not have been achieved without the action and support of our council and boards.
"We really are only as strong as our members want us to be and we need their continued support to ensure the voice of the IFA profession is heard loud and clear."
