The return of the erratic veg
While global food inflation may have economists overcome with anxiety and fund managers trying to find a way to overcome a potential recession, there could be comedy relief as more oddly shaped vegetables make their way to our supermarket shelves.
For while Brussels-based bureaucrats have long tried to outlaw bent cucumbers, straight bananas and phallic carrots, they are now having to loosen standards and let more bendy and outsized fruit and veg through to counter rising prices and demand.
