Mercer began operations in India 12 years ago and offers a complete suite of consulting, investment and outsourcing services in India.

Guo Xin, Mercer's deputy head of Asia Pacific, said: "The Indian economy as we have seen it is at the cusp of another phase of hyper growth and this has resulted in unique human capital challenges.

"Companies are increasingly looking to us to advise them on addressing the challenges with talent management, the diverse labour market and changing legislation around benefits.

"Padma, with her expertise and vast experience in consulting and technology, will not only help us in identifying the needs of the Indian market but also in developing an overarching go-to-market strategy and customised solutions to address these needs."

Ravichander joins Mercer from Perot Systems, an IT services company where she served as the president and managing director for India and Asia Pacific.
