Friends Provident has made income protection available on its eSelect underwriting system.

The benefits of adding income protection to eSelect for advisers include faster new business processing, a new increasing option that rises in line with the Retail Prices Index and the system's ability to offer ratings and exclusions where appropriate.

Mark Jones, head of protection marketing for Friends Provident, said: "We are not only expanding the range of protection products available online, but by adding income protection advisers can take advantage of a range of benefits that both the system and our products offer, including straight through processing."

Ian McKenna, director for the Financial Technology Research Centre, said: "With advisers increasingly looking to provide a range of protection products to consumers extending eSelect to include income protection is very welcome."
