Milburn resurfaces at Munich Re
Former Royal Liver returns to the industry in branch marketing role
Andy Milburn has returned to the industry after a brief foray as head of marketing at a law firm.
He is now head of marketing for Munich Re's UK life branch business based in Canary Wharf and he joined the reassurer last week.
Mr Milburn left Royal Liver as IFA market manager nine weeks ago to go to Goldsmith Williams.
He said: "It is a different role in that it is reassurance rather than insurance, but the great thing is from my point of view, I get to use all the expertise I have built up in the industry for 20 years. I am still involved in protection which I realised that I missed when I went to the law firm. I was missing using all the knowledge I gained while working in financial services."
Mr Milburn will be responsible for the branch's strategic client marketing and communications, and will report to Andrew Francis, director of client management.
The role involves working closely with the business units to market and communicate the branch's reinsurance and service proposition to clients as well as the broader development of the Munich Re brand, personality and reputation.
Mr Francis said: "We are particularly pleased to have attracted someone of Mr Milburn's calibre and experience to the role. The UK life branch has made significant strides in improving performance since it restructured in 2006 and this appointment marks the start of the next phase in the development of our proposition."
Royal Liver appointed Steve Elliott as its technical manager after Mr Milburn's departure.
