Unintended consequences
Now that the Competition Commission has again refocused on payment protection insurance, the challenge is to drive out rogues sales people – who force the policies on clients to drive up their bonuses – while providing for the protection needs of borrowers.
The problem is that we are in danger of throwing out the baby with the bath water. There is a place for PPI in any portfolio, but it must be appropriate.
