Mandelson announces ministerial team

Peter Mandelson has outlined the responsibilities of his ministerial team at the department for business, enterprise and regulatory reform.

He said: “I am delighted to be the secretary of state for business, enterprise and regulatory reform. It will be a great opportunity and a great challenge.

"Our economy, like every other, is facing huge challenges as a result of the global financial crisis. I will be doing all I can, along with the rest of my ministerial team, to help businesses and consumers through these testing times.”

It was announced that the ministerial team would include Pat McFadden, responsible for employment relations and postal affairs; Gareth Hunt, as minister for trade, investment and consumer affairs, Ian Pearson, economic and business minister; Stephen Carter as minister for communications, technology and broadcasting; and also Shriti Vadera, minister for competitiveness and small business.
