It’s wonderful but too heavy for Waitrose

Windsor Castle was the venue for the latest recipients of an OBE and ethical IFA Lee Coates was thrilled to receive the heavy, red-ribboned gong from the Princess Royal.

Mr Coates had been building up to the moment for some time – his wife’s dress was already in the bag several months ago – and when it finally came he said “it was only a couple of minutes but seemed like ages”.

He was left beaming when the princess took a genuine interest and referred to his strictly ethical investing-only business start-up. She said: “I bet people thought you were a bit radical in 1989.”

Mr Coates said the medal itself was wonderful but given the overwhelming weight of the thing, it was not the sort of item one would take to Waitrose.
