Aberdeen appoints head of Asia Pacific strategy
Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed Peter Elston as head of Asia Pacific strategy and asset allocation.
Mr Elston, who joined Aberdeen as a strategist in April 2008, will report to star Asia manager Hugh Young and Mike Turner, head of global strategy and asset allocation at Aberdeen.
Having previous worked at Mercury Asset Management in Asia, Mr Elston has managed Asian equity funds from Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
“The case for broad investment exposure to Asia is a simple and compelling one. Aberdeen already has strong track records in the key underlying asset classes of Asian equity, fixed income and property around which we will continue to grow multi-asset products,” Mr Elston said.
Mr Young, managing director of Aberdeen Asset Management Asia, added: “Asia will remain a growth region for decades to come. Peter’s appointment is recognition of the increasing interest in Asian multi-asset solutions and represents a natural step in the development of our business in the region.”
