Swip team issues gilts warning

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership’s (Swip) absolute return bond fund team has said yields on the UK’s government bonds are now so low that they are an “unattractive proposition”.

Juan Valenzuela and James Carver, who run the £74m Swip Absolute Return Bond fund, said UK gilts had rallied so far - in an environment of more than 4 per cent inflation - that there are now risks that investors do not “fully appreciate”.
