Napf: New auto-enrolment notice periods will reduce burden
Association speaks out in favour of “injection of clarity” after waiting period notice period extended from one week to one month.
The National Association of Pension Funds has spoken out in support of the final auto-enrolment regulations and clarifications released by the government yesterday, saying the increase in waiting period notification deadlines will reduce the “administrative burden”.
Richard Wilson, senior policy adviser at Napf, said that combined with the new timetable set last week, the newly-published guidance will give firms a clearer idea of what they need to do to prepare for the changes.
He said: “We particularly appreciate that the government has listened to our requests to extend the deadline for issuing waiting period notices from one week to one month. This will help businesses by reducing some of the administrative burden that important reforms like these create.
“Auto-enrolment is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that will help tackle the UK’s pensions savings crisis.
“The injection of clarity provided by the government is very welcome. Now the government has to stick with the new plan and do everything possible to help employers and schemes prepare for the launch of auto-enrolment.”
