Ian Sweet, commercial director for Guardian Wealth Management, said Guardian Spread Trading would give members round-the-clock access to up to 3000 markets through a live feed.

Mr Sweet said: “For many years, GWM has provided financial planning advice to clients spanning a number of different products or solutions. However, the one thing that is often missing in our armoury of solutions is the ability to try and take advantage of short-term trends.

“Most financial planning involves a medium- to long-term outlook but we are seeing a rise in interest among clients who want to control their own short-term investment strategies.”

He said the new, fully FSA-regulated site will let GWM’s sophisticated clients take advantage of movements in the financial markets.

Mr Sweet added: “This way, clients can back their own judgement and if they call the market right there is potential for profits. The site will also offer some of the tightest spreads we can.”

Unlike most spread-trading companies, Guardian Wealth Management’s focus and backgrouns is in financial planning advice, so Mr Sweet stressed that the new Guardian Spread Trading platform was only serving as an additional element to a client’s overall strategy, not to replace traditional financial planning advice.

Clients will not incur a charge to open an account and there will be no minimum or maximum level of deposit required.

The new website, guardianspreadtrading.com, offers a help and advice section, including a user manual and practice area which allows potential members to place trades in a mirror of the current markets using virtual cash.

An accompanying mobile phone app will be launched later this year, allowing clients to trade on-the-go.
