The Financial Services Authority has confirmed that Mandy Spink, head of large complex UK banks, will be leaving the regulator around mid-May.

Ms Spink has been at the FSA since it was created in 1997, and has 20 years experience in financial services regulation. She was previously head of mortgages and credit unions in the FSA’s small firms division.

The news follows the announcement that Margaret Cole, conduct business unit director, is set to leave the regulator after seven years.

Commentators have speculated that Ms Cole’s departure was prompted by the decision to overlook her for the position of head of the incoming Financial Conduct Authority in favour of Martin Wheatley.
