IFA seeks to clear her name at Croydon tribunal

A financial adviser accused of berating a client for not drinking enough during a meeting in a bar launched a second bid to clear her name last week.

Amanda Daughters got so drunk at the Friday night rendez-vous in a south London bar that she reduced Emily Pennington to tears, her former employers claim.

The Croydon employment tribunal heard Ms Daughters is also said to have sworn at Ms Pennington’s partner during the meeting in January 2010, before ringing boss Carolyn Bennett to admit she had offended a client.

The businesswoman, the founder and former managing director of Aqua Financial Solutions, was later sacked for gross misconduct.

Her initial claim for unfair dismissal was rejected by an employment tribunal in October 2010, but she earned a fresh hearing after an appeal.

Ms Daughters insisted she was the victim of a stitch-up and said her relationship with Ms Bennett had “broken down” during the previous 12 months and insisted her dismissal was “orchestrated and pre-determined”.

The judge is considering the evidence and will deliver a finding within 28 days.
