Lowes launches portfolio checking tool

SP-Perspective gives users of CompareStructuredProducts.com an overview of products they have invested in, via the research and comparison website, as well as the ability to add legacy investments dating back to 2006.

The system includes index ‘strike’ levels, capital-at-risk barrier levels, timeline of events in the portfolio’s lifecycle such as potential and fixed maturity dates and, to assist with efficient tax planning, a breakdown of which plans could, or will, mature in which tax years.

The software also includes a counterparty breakdown tool that gives a clear overview of the structured product portfolio’s exposure to each counterparty.

A counterparty breakdown tool allows investors to incorporate details of other deposits and investments to give a clear indication of their exposure to any individual counterparty by reference to their total portfolio and to account for relevant Financial Services Compensation Scheme cover and limits.

This follows on from last year’s launch of the structured product investment platform, SPGO.

For the first time, professional investors can find, analyse, monitor and execute trades in structured products from a wide range of product providers, all in one online location.

Ian Lowes, managing director of Lowes Financial Management and founder of CompareStructuredProducts.com, said the tool is essential to investors as, prior to this, clients only received a six-monthly valuation statement from the provider.

He said: “Few of these valuation statements give any information other than the name of the investment and an indicative early surrender value.

“Structured products have defined returns, based on the performance of defined underlying measurements such as the FTSE 100 index and delivered at defined dates but reviewing the terms of an existing investment historically meant retrieving the product literature.

“Not only does SP-Perspective provide access to the relevant product literature, it also displays all of the relevant defined terms for each plan and shows how the whole of the client portfolio interrelates.

“Monitoring and evaluating a structured product portfolio has never been more simple and straightforward.”

Mr Lowes is also in discussions with other IFAs and wealth managers to provide SP-Perspective as a platform.
