Canada Life has appointed Peter Towers and Richard Priestley as managing director for wealth management and executive director for retirement income respectively.

Arriving from his prior position as Aviva managing director for life and pensions in Ireland, Mr Towers will take on the task of developing Canada Life’s onshore and offshore wealth management business including Isle of Man-based Canada Life International.

Mr Priestley joins from Lloyds Banking Group, where he was commercial director for life pensions and investments.

He will lead Canada Life’s activities in the retirement income marketplace.

Ian Gilmour, chief executive of Canada Life, said: “Canada Life has seen strong growth in sales of its accumulation and income offerings in the pre- and post-retirement markets and we have ambitions to become even more successful.

“The appointment of Peter Towers and Richard Priestley to spearhead our growth plans signals our intent and they will be instrumental in exploring a range of exciting new opportunities.”
