Multi-manager funds are a simple route to achieving diversification across a spread of markets and investment styles in a cost-effective manner.

According to Gary Collins, head of UK retail sales at Threadneedle, multi-manager funds provide diversified investment solutions for clients and can therefore be appropriate for those with smaller amounts to invest.

He said multi-manager funds can also be used as a core holding for a larger investor.
