Ascentric workshop series focus on RDR

Independent wrap platform Ascentric has set up a series of half-day workshops for firms working towards being fully retail distribution review-ready, Mike Morrow has said.

The sales and marketing director for Ascentric said: “These workshops are designed to give firms valuable additional counsel as they fast approach RDR implementation, which is now only six months away.

“The programme has been designed carefully following ongoing RDR feedback from our users and, given the range of expertise available, we are confident every participant will come away armed with a set of actions, or at the very least feel reassured that their business is ready for regulatory change.”

The workshops are aimed at advisers, managers and compliance staff involved with planning or implementing an RDR strategy for their businesses.

They will take place on Tuesday 17 July in Birmingham, Wednesday 18 July in Bath and Thursday 19 July in London.

Each workshop will focus on transitioning businesses and continuing professional development. Participants will also be taken an interactive journey through a 40-point RDR checklist.

Mr Morrow said this would leave advisers with a “clear set of actions to take back to their business”.

Each of the four key checklist elements will be run by a specialist in that field. Sue Leech and Steve Gazzard of the Institute of Financial Planning will focus on professionalism and business planning, an investment practitioner will look at investment process, Nick Bamford, director of Surrey-based IFA Informed Choice will cover service and pricing, and Louise Wallis, technical business adviser for Avelo, will cover the business process and people.

Chris Baigent-Reed, consulting director of Jigsaw Tree, will host the workshops on behalf of Ascentric.
