Chris Hannant, policy director at Aifa, said, “In the final days before implementation of the retail distribution review this will be a timely opportunity to hear from Mr Wheatley about how the regulator will assist advisers with the transition.

“The event will also provide Mr Wheatley with the chance to outline how he sees the regulatory environment shaping up under his leadership of the FCA. The introduction of a new regulator offers an opportunity to reconsider key issues, such as funding, liability for advisers and how supervision takes place in the industry.”

He said that Mr Wheatley was “perfectly placed” to impart an informed view on the developments of regulation and change in the sector.

Mr Hannant added: “Our guests will be keen to hear his thoughts on the likely future of the financial services market.”

Aifa’s Annual Gala Dinner is a key event in the industry calendar when leading industry figures, politicians and journalists meet to celebrate a key component of the UK economy.

Being held on 13 November at 8 Northumberland Avenue, this event for the financial adviser community is being sponsored by BlackRock.
