Q: Can my client transfer into Nest?

No. Transfers into Nest are not allowed, except in specific circumstances such as pension sharing on divorce.

Andrew Towner, director of employee benefits at Cartlidge Morland, said pension arrangements relating to pensions and divorce legislation is scheduled to be reviewed by 2017 at the latest.

Steve Wood, a senior consultant for Helm Godfrey, said there have been calls for this to be changed, in particular to allow workers with small pension pots accumulated privately or from previous employers to be transferred into Nest.

A review of this rule is planned for 2017.
