Darwin hires three in expansion push
Three new hires for David Jane’s boutique following sales manager departure last month.
Darwin Investment Managers, the multi-asset boutique, has hired three new staff to assist the firm’s expansion.
Former M&G head of equities David Jane has brought in Gary Hopkins from Valu-Trac to work on both investment and distribution. Mr Hopkins has also worked for BNP Paribas and AIG, specialising in fixed income, convertible bonds and derivatives.
Hendrik Verest has been hired from commodities and resources investor Four Winds Capital to work on distribution for Darwin, while Thomas Hodge has joined as head of risk management and dealing from Credit Suisse.
Last month sales manager Mike Lonkhurst left Darwin to return to a career as a pilot.
The new distribution hires will be responsible for selling the firm’s flagship fund, the TM Darwin Multi Asset fund. The fund has outperformed the IMA Mixed Investment 20-60 per cent Shares sector since its launch in June 2011, gaining 2.8 per cent compared with a sector average gain of 2.2 per cent.
