Liontrust to shut emerging markets fund
Group to shut down emerging markets fund; places managers on gardening leave.
Liontrust has shut its $13m (£8.1m) Emerging Markets Opportunities fund and the fund’s managers are to leave the firm.
Managers Eoghan Flanagan and James Mellersh are currently on gardening leave following the decision, which a Liontrust spokesperson said was due to the fund being “not economically viable”.
The fund and its managers transferred to Liontrust when the boutique bought emerging markets specialist Occam in August last year.
Asian equity manager Mark Williams, who runs two funds, is unaffected by the change.
