L&G poaches Standard Life’s Phillips for equities role

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has hired Lance Phillips from Standard Life Investments to take on the new role of head of active equities.

Mr Churchlow is currently head of UK equities and head of active equities, and will continue to lead the UK equities team and manage the £148.1m L&G Growth and £15.6m L&G UK Absolute funds.

Mr Phillips, currently head of overseas and global equities at Standard Life, is to join in Q1 2013, and will take on the head of active equities role from Robert Churchlow.

Mark Zinkula, LGIM chief executive officer, said Mr Phillips has a “wealth of industry experience and strong leadership skills”.

Mr Phillips’ departure from Standard Life was announced yesterday alongside the departures of David Millar, Dave Jubb and Richard Batty, who are to join Invesco Perpetual to create a multi-asset team.
