Emerging market manager Godfrey to leave M&G
One half of M&G Global Emerging Markets and M&G Asian fund management team departs.
M&G Investments’ emerging markets equity manager Michael Godfrey has left the firm after eight years.
Mr Godfrey is handing the management of the £467m Asian fund and £681m Global Emerging Markets fund to co-manager Matthew Vaight.
Mr Godfrey has co-managed the Asian fund since February 2008, and the Global Emerging Markets fund since it launched in February 2009.
He joined M&G from Shell Pensions Management Services in August 2004.
M&G said in a statement that he had “decided to pursue another opportunity elsewhere in the industry”.
Fund broker Bestinvest said: “Given the continuity we expect this to be a smooth transition.”
Since launch to September 27, the Global Emerging Markets fund ranked in the top quartile of the IMA Global Emerging Markets sector with a 103.8 per cent gain.
The Asian fund was top quartile over five years in the IMA Asia ex Pacific sector with a 30.3 per cent.
