Newton Emerging Income added to Wealth 150

New income fund added to Hargreaves Lansdown buy list prior to launch on October 4.

Hargreaves Lansdown has added Newton’s forthcoming Emerging Income fund to its Wealth 150 list in a rare pre-launch move.

The new fund is to be launched on October 4 and will be managed by Jason Pidcock, who runs the £2.3bn Asian Income fund.

Hargreaves Lansdown head of research Mark Dampier said it was the “first time in a long time” that the firm had added a fund to the Wealth 150 list of recommended products before its launch.

“We think Newton has a very good income franchise,” Mr Dampier said. “Jason Pidcock has done a very good job on Asian Income, which is similar to the Emerging Income fund.”

The Asian Income fund gained 70.9 per cent over five years to September 27, according to FE Analytics, compared with the IMA Asia Pacific ex Japan sector’s 15.5 per cent average return.
