Funds in these sectors are multi-asset and geographically agnostic funds that have no sector specialism. Alongisde standard single-manager funds, the sectors include fund of funds, fettered, unfettered and so on.

Like a child in a sweet shop, the breadth of choice offered by Mixed Investment funds could easily leave advisers and their clients unsure about whether they are looking at a gobstopper or a sherbet dip.

This guide will explain the make-up of Mixed Investments and how advisers can make sure they select the fund best able to satisfy their client’s appetite.

Contributors to this guide include Ben Yearsley, head of investment research at Charles Stanley Direct; Gavin Haynes, managing director of Whitechurch Securities; the Investment Management Association; and Ken Rayner, director of Rayner Spencer Mills.
