The chairman of The Pensions Trust confirmed that Stephen Nichols left his post last week.
Mr Nichols did not disclose the reason for his resignation, saying it was a “difficult decision” but one that was right, both “personally and for the organisation”.
Ms Smart said the trust would look for an external candidate to replace Mr Nichols.
