F&C Investments has hired Scott Spencer from Aberdeen to its multi-manager team.

Mr Spencer will team up again with Rob Burdett and Gary Potter, co-heads of F&C’s multi-manager business, when he joins in July. He previously worked with the duo at Credit Suisse Asset Management.

F&C said he would “play an important role in fund and asset allocation decisions” for the Navigator multi-manager funds and Lifestyle risk-rated funds.

Mr Spencer is currently a portfolio manager on Aberdeen’s multi-asset team, which is led by Aidan Kearney and Graham Duce. The Aberdeen team transferred from Credit Suisse in 2009, where they ran the multi-manager business which was originally founded by Mr Burdett and Mr Potter.

Mr Potter said: “Following a strong period of asset gathering and performance across our F&C MM Navigator and Lifestyle fund ranges, we felt now was the right time to invest further in the expansion of our team.

“Our team’s total assets under management have grown to over £2.1bn, which includes the recently-awarded Foreign & Colonial investment trust mandate.”
