Schroders’ head of commodities Robert Howell has left the group, with emerging market debt expert Geoff Blanning taking on his responsibilities.

Mr Howell departed the company “to pursue opportunities outside of the financial services industry”, a spokesperson for Schroders said. He was primarily responsible for institutional funds and did not manage any onshore retail funds.

Mr Blanning, currently head of the group’s emerging markets debt, commodities and currencies team, will become head of commodities alongside his existing responsibilities. He has run the desk for 15 years and is manager of the offshore $3.8bn (£2.3bn) Schroder ISF Emerging Markets Debt Absolute Return fund.
