Bridgewater Equity Release is holding a post-Mortgage Market Review masterclass in Solihull to help financial advisers working in a new regulatory environment.

The all-day masterclass, which is free to attend and starts at 9:30am on 29 April, will take place three days after the introduction of the MMR rules and will include presentations from industry experts to help advisers acclimatise.

In attendance will be Simon Tranter, risk and compliance officer at Grainger, who will discuss the rules and their impact on equity release, and focus on the suitability of advice from a provider’s perspective.

Other presentations will be made by Jeremy Davies, joint managing director of Symponia, and Bridgewater’s manager of sales and distribution, Chris Prior, who will examine how advisers can generate and convert more leads.

Mr Prior said: “We will also be looking at important areas such as long-term care, as well as a back-to-basics session aimed at helping advisers get the most out of the business opportunities that exist.”

Adviser view

Steven Whitehead, financial planner at Newcastle upon Tyne-based Tait Walker, said: “We are up to speed with the Mortgage Market Review and will be sorted by April. I do not always find day events to be useful and tend to keep up to date as I go along, which I find to be better than relying on events.”
