Marlborough Fund Managers has confirmed it will rebrand its European and US equity funds in a bid to reflect its multi-cap strategies.

From August 1 this year the Marlborough European Trust, which is managed by David Walton, will be renamed the Marlborough European Multi-Cap fund.

It has also proposed to rebrand the Marlborough North American Trust as the Marlborough US Multi-Cap Income fund, with the investment objective set to change from targeting capital growth to achieving “an increasing income with the potential for some capital growth”.

Marlborough said that the changes are designed to reflect the dividend appreciation strategy run by Paul Tryon and Jack Lemery who manage the US equity fund.

A spokesman for Marlborough said: “Marlborough Multi-Cap Income has proved popular with UK equity income investors and rebranding these funds highlights that we also have managers with the freedom to identify opportunities across the market cap spectrum in Europe and the US.”

Any changes to the US fund are due to be voted for at a meeting on July 31 and if approved will take effect from August 1 2014.
