The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) is to host four adviser seminars around the country later this year, with speakers including Aberdeen’s £1.3bn Murray International manager Bruce Stout.

The sessions will run from September to November and take place in London, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

The seminars will begin at 9.30am and finish at 12.30pm following a question and answer session and a panel discussion.

Jacqueline Lockie, the AIC’s head of training, will introduce the sessions with a presentation on what influences the volatility of an investment company share.

James Burns, head of multi-manager at Smith & Williamson, will discuss the value of investment companies, why he uses them and how his company includes them in client portfolios.

The second session of the morning will be led by Mr Stout in Newcastle; Baillie Gifford’s Dominic Neary in Edinburgh; TR Property trust manager Marcus Phayre-Mudge in London; and Paul Niven, who runs the Foreign & Colonial trust, in Birmingham.

Places can be booked via the AIC’s website, www.theaic.co.uk.
