Zurich enhances online product access for advisers

Zurich has enhanced its whole of life product by providing advisers with access to online quotes and applications, all linked to the key industry portals, Peter Hamilton has said.

Mr Hamilton, Zurich’s head of retail propositions, said it was important to make its whole of life cover available online to help advisers and their clients.

He said: “We are seeing a real shift in the amount of business that advisers are doing online and continuing to invest in our products and services to facilitate this is key.”

Research facilitated by the insurer has revealed that 39 per cent of advisers have either doubled or tripled the amount of protection business they write online over the past five years.

The majority, 71 per cent, said they would like to see whole of life applications move online.

Emma Thomson, life office relationship director for London-based Lifesearch, said: “We place as much as we can online so if insurers such as Zurich offer this service, we use it.

“There are some insurers still to get on board with putting whole of life or relevant life cover online. Definitely, we think more intermediaries are looking to place business online so this area will grow.”
