First State’s Angus Tulloch was among the leading business people to write an open letter in support of Scottish independence today.

In a letter to Scottish newspaper The Herald, 200 business figures, including Asia Pacific star Mr Tulloch, said independence was in the best interests of Scottish businesses.

It was written in response to a similar open letter published in The Scotsman yesterday, in which 130 business people claimed the business case for independence had not been made.

The signatories to the letter criticising independence included Artemis chairman Hamish Grossart, Dundas Partners founder Alan McFarlane and Cornelian Asset Managers chief executive Jeremy Richardson.

Mr Tulloch has long been a major backer of the Scottish independence movement, and the campaign donor list between May 2012 and March 2013 showed the manager had donated £250,000 to the cause.
