Discretionary manager Rowan Dartington has hired John Betteridge as chairman of its asset allocation committee.

Mr Betteridge, who was the former chief investment officer for Prudential UK’s insurance division, has also become a non-executive director at the group.

In his role at Prudential, he had oversight of assets in excess of £150bn. His responsibilities included the high level investment strategy and monitoring and control of assets across Prudential’s with-profit, annuity, unit-linked and collective schemes.

In addition to this, he managed a team of economists, portfolio managers, quantitative analysts and actuaries.

Graham Coxell, executive chairman of Rowan Dartington, said the hire of Mr Betteridge showed “how far we have come as a business in the past three years”.
