China’s consumer inflation rate slows in August

China’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 2 per cent in August from a year earlier and slower than the 2.3 per cent increase recorded in July this year.

Consumer inflation fell to a four-month low in August, according to the latest figures from the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

The government full-year target for inflation is 3.5 per cent.

China’s producer price index declined 1.2 per cent in August year on year, which is the 30th consecutive month it has showed a decrease.
