AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has hired Honyu Fung and Jason Pang to its Asian fixed income team.
Mr Fung will be a senior portfolio manager and Mr Pang will be a portfolio manager. Both will be based in Hong Kong and report to Jim Veneau, head of fixed income in Asia.
While the pair will not work on UK retail funds initatially a spokesperson from AXA IM said: “We are looking to increase our global emerging markets fixed income range, so they are very likely to work on UK retail funds in the future”.
Simon Flood, head of AXA IM Asia Pacific, said: “Asia is a key market for AXA IM and these new hires bear testament to our commitment to Asia and our intention to continue to invest in our capabilities in the region”.
Mr Fung joins from HSBC Global Asset Management where he was an associate director for over 11 years. In this Hong Kong based role he oversaw fixed income mandates.
Mr Pang also worked at HSBC Global Asset Management in Hong Kong. Prior to this he worked on the wealth management distribution team at UBS Global Asset Management.
