Octopus has hired Shaun Sandiford from Axa Elevate as it begins to provide tax planning products on platforms.

Mr Sandiford will join as head of platform distribution. His main role will be liaising with platforms to provide advisers easier access to Octopus’ funds.

Neil Buckland, head of sales at Octopus, said: “It is clear the RDR has really focused advisers’ attention on areas where they can add real value for their clients – such as tax planning – and so there is a greater requirement for us to support advisers through allowing their clients access to products and services that can help them meet their planning goals.”

Mr Sandiford joins from Axa Elevate where he was business development director for four years. Before that he was the head of sales at Ascentric.

Octopus now offers its Inheritance Tax Service on Novia. The service invests in companies that qualify for the business property relief, hence providing clients inheritance tax relief after two years.
