Exeter Family Friendly has appointed Simon Philp in the newly created role of distribution, innovation and marketing director.

Mr Philp was most recently managing director at Axa Wealth, where he introduced several key distribution partnerships and increased overall business volumes. Prior to this, he worked for Aviva on both IFA and partnership distribution models.

Andy Chapman, Exeter’s chief executive, said Mr Philp’s “experience and proven ability to deliver growth and forge strategic relationships will be a key asset for us going forward”.

Mr Philp added: “It’s clear that the strength of our proposition and the loyal and growing support from advisers, stand us in good stead to deliver against our ambitious growth plans.”

Earlier this year the specialist healthcare and protection provider hired David Cobley as its chief actuary in another newly created role.
