Old Mutual Global Investors’ star UK equity manager Ashton Bradbury is set to leave at the end of this year.

Mr Bradbury, who had joined Old Mutual in 2000, will leave to pursue interests outside of the industry.

Tim Service has joined Mr Bradbury as co-manager on his Old Mutual UK Special Equity hedge fund and will take over as lead manager when Mr Bradbury retires.

Mr Bradbury said: “Having spent 16 years commuting on a regular basis to London from my home in South Wales I have decided that the time is now right to pursue a somewhat less hectic pace of life in the years ahead.”

Mr Bradbury began his career at Charterhouse Tilney in 1988 before moving to Hill Samuel Asset Management in 1991 to work as a smaller companies fund manager.

Stints as head of smaller companies at HSBC Asset Management and a return to Hill Samuel followed, before he joined Old Mutual in 2000 to focus on investing in mid cap and small cap funds.

He was appointed head of UK equities in 2008 and stepped down from running the Old Mutual UK Select Mid-Cap fund in 2009. Richard Buxton replaced him as head of UK equities when he joined in 2013.
