BNP Paribas has hired former Barings manager Colin Harte as a manager and strategist within its Multi Asset Solutions team.

Mr Harte was made redundant from Barings in February 2012 after 11 years at the group when his Absolute Return Global Bond fund was merged into another product at the group.

The manager, who has 30 years’ investment management experience, will now use his expertise in fixed income to help the multi-asset team’s asset allocation. He will be based in London with the group’s tactical asset allocation and research team.

Mr Harte’s hire comes shortly after the group hired Colin Graham as chief investment officer in March and launched its Diversified Growth fund at the end of July this year.

Charles Janssen, hed of multi-asset solutions at the group, said demand for multi-asset products was “growing at an impressive rate given the increasing need for retirement solutions in both the retail and instititutional space”.
