Mortgage Opportunities in 2015

A year on since the FCA’s Mortgage Market Review was put in place, what lies in store for potential buyers and those in the industry who serve them? Has the full effect of MMR been felt? Will the various government schemes to help people onto the housing ladder have worked? Has the government put in place enough home building schemes to meet demand?

And then what lies on the horizon? Next year, the European Mortgage Credit Directive is set to come into force, potentially ushering in tighter regulations, while there is talk of interest rate rises in 2015. How will any rise, no matter how small, affect people’s ability to borrow - and to repay?

We at the end of 2014 are at an inflection point, what some have called the peak before the inevitable downwards roll - a slow down in house prices, a rise in rates, a tightening up in lending and perhaps some political firebombs thrown into the mix.
