Zurich has added a range of investment trusts to its platform fund list for advisers.

Four investment trusts have been initially selected by Square Mile for the Zurich Collection fund list initially: the Finsbury Growth and Income; NB Global Floating Rate Income; TwentyFour Income Fund; and Temple Bar.

Mark Peters, head of retail wealth propositions at Zurich UK Life, said: ‘The addition of Investment Trusts within the Zurich Collection range adds a further option for advisers using our platform and who want to use this important asset class to drive the right outcomes for their customers.”

Annabel Brodie-Smith, director of the Association of Investment Companies, added: “Advisers often ask us who independently rates investment companies and now there is a new source entering the market.

“With their strong long-term performance and their unique advantages over other funds when it comes to delivering a higher or growing income, investment companies have much to offer to clients’ portfolios.”

Just this week, the AIC’s director general was bemoaning the fact that many financial advisers are not offering investment companies to their clients, despite seeing the benefits and using them in their own portfolios.

His remarks come after FTAdviser reported doubts over the extent of adviser and wealth manager purchases of investment trusts, despite evidence of strong performance relative to open-ended peers, due to incomplete access on platforms and misgivings over liquidity and gearing.
