RangeXD said it would be focusing on addressing the challenges of connecting individuals, businesses, organisations and objects to the internet.

Dr. Andrew Fox, chief executive of RangeXD, said broadband coverage was patchy and often did not meet the needs or expectations of users.

He claimed RangeXD’s revolutionary patented antenna technology would enable WiBE users to connect in more places and at better speeds than ever before.

The technology is aimed at a wide range of data-intensive, time-critical applications, including office broadband, point-of-sale terminal fallback, connecting first responders to mission-critical information and keeping outside broadcast crews connected.

The initial portfolio of four products – WiBE, WiBE Extreme, WiBE Enterprise and WiBE Marine – boosts performance without the need for special alignment to the mobile network.

Dr Fox said: “We created RangeXD to drive innovations that compensate for the inadequacies of broadband provision across the globe and to enable people and organisations to connect better.”

Adviser view:

Daren O’Brien, an IFA with Aurora Financial Solutions, in London, said: “We only tend to use broadband in the office, where connectivity is fine, and when we do go out of the office it’s to meet clients and spend minimal time on the computer. Saying that, younger advisers who will make more use of technology may eventually benefit from this.”
